I am the owner of a 3 vet small animal practice in Coffs Harbour, on the NSW north Coast. We Joined UVG last year after discussions with Sam Bowden at a weekend getaway and reunion with some old friends. I had known Sam from our university days and he laid out his plans for UVG with much enthusiasm and explained how we may benefit as a united group of practitioners.

I saw this as a new approach with merit for future savings and profitability for my practice. In addition the idea of numerous practice owners sharing ideas and protocols used within their own businesses to help improve others was very interesting and inspiring. We subsequently joined The UVG in August 2007 and have been changing our approach and improving our profitability since. We have already seen increases in profit by introducing some of the protocols supplied by the UVG and we are also seeing considerable savings on our monthly drug bills.

Added bonuses are some of the extra rebates we have received through the UVG.The team at Lyppards in QLD have also been very professional in helping make the change from our previous supplier and we have found them easy to deal with and always very helpful.

Our estimated savings on drug bills alone probably amount to between $500-700 per month. I was particularly inspired by Sam’s enthusiasm and passion to see our profession reward itself with better remuneration through improved inter-practice communication. This in turn allowing better levels of patient care as well as improving ways of reducing our overall costs.

Thus far as an owner of a relatively small country practice, I have been very satisfied with rewards I have received in being a member of the group.

We are a 3 person mixed practice in a small country town in Northern NSW. We have been members of uvg only since August 2007 so its hard to gauge or savings so far but I have noticed increased bargaining power with all the drug companies and wholesalers.

We have also started setting up a web page with a company recommended by uvg which offered us great savings.The main advantage though is to be part of a team of likeminded vets who can offer you ideas and tips which can make a huge difference to practice management and morale. Working together makes far more sense than competing!!!

As owners of the Kuraby Veterinary Surgery since only July 2006 we have found being a member of the UVG to have been invaluable. It has enabled us to be part of a group of vets in a similar business position to ourselves as well as the fantastic monetary benefits. These benefits have included substantial savings on our wholesaler bill, discount web page setup and maintenance, a discount off quality newsletter production and postage, direct drug company rebates/bonuses and pathology rebates, with Sam having more savings to come in 2008!!!

Although we have not totalled it up we are saving at least $1000 per month on drugs alone!

We are definitely better off being part of UVG than trying to go it alone. The wholesaler discounts made it far easier for us to transition a run down practice that was charging below cost for some items, to a modern practice with reasonable mark ups.

We appreciate having the group buying power, while still retaining full autonomy to use whichever brands we choose. Likewise, we are free to use whichever of the other UVG deals suit us – there are absolutely no membership obligations or minimum purchase requirements.

Having the bargaining done for us is a real time saver.

Having a buyers group like UVG has been the fastest & easiest way to save serious money. Since joining 6 weeks ago, I have saved over $5,000 and anticipate a further saving of over $50,000 over the coming financial year.
